Complete Restoration: 1977 Mini Clubman Estate
/A New Life Begins
In September 2023, a well-worn yet beloved 1977 Mini Clubman Estate arrived at our workshop for a complete transformation. Originally finished in a faded orange and showing its age after decades on the road, this classic Mini was destined for a full nut-and-bolt restoration, and an exciting new chapter as a promotional vehicle for Hammiton Farm in Dorset.
What followed was a detailed, passion-driven Mini Clubman Estate restoration project, taking this iconic British classic from barn-find condition to a stunning showpiece, ready for the spotlight.
Stripping Down the 1977 Mini Clubman Estate
The Mini Clubman Estate restoration process began with a complete strip-down. Every panel, nut, and component was carefully removed, allowing our team to assess the true condition of the car underneath. While rust and wear were present the shell was surprisingly solid, offering the perfect base for a full rebuild.
This crucial stage laid the groundwork for a comprehensive classic Mini rebuild, ensuring every inch of the vehicle would be restored to its former glory (and beyond).
Bodywork Restoration & Fabrication
With the car stripped to bare metal, restoration work got underway. Corroded areas were cut out and replaced, the floor pans and sills repaired and the entire body treated and prepped for paint. Any tired or failing mechanical components, including suspension, brakes, and the electrical system, were either refurbished or replaced to bring the Mini up to modern reliability standards.
Colour Change: From Orange to Inca Yellow
One of the standout elements of this build was the decision to change the colour from the original orange to a striking Inca Yellow. The new paint not only enhances the car’s visibility and charm but perfectly suits its new role as a classic Mini promotional vehicle for a thriving Dorset-based business.
The vibrant yellow finish, combined with the Mini’s distinctive boxy lines and estate proportions, ensures this restored beauty will always turn heads.
Reassembly and Detailing
Once painted, the meticulous reassembly process began. Every detail of the Mini Clubman Estate rebuild was considered: new seals, refurbished chrome trim, period-correct fittings and a refreshed interior brought the vehicle back to life in style.
Though the Dorset branding and stripes will be applied at a later date, the finished product is already a showstopper, ready to represent Hammiton Farm with pride.
